Mercantour National Park

Le Mercantour National park owes its unique diversity to its geographical location where Ligurean, Alpine, Mediterranean and Provençal climatic influences meet. It has an extraordinarily rich flora of 2,400 species. Ibex and Lammergeyers were reintroduced by man but wolves crossed the border from Italy on their own. Le Mercantour National park is also home to a unique archaeological heritage with 40,000 Bronze Age rock carvings in the Vallée des Merveilles.
